Words can poison, words can heal. Words start and fight wars, but words make peace. Words lead men to the pinnacles of good And words can plunge men to the depths of evil. Think about it. Even two simple syllables—Da-da—are powerful enough to make a grown man cry when uttered for the first time by his baby. I believe that words contain tremendous power: it can be either positive, constructive power or negative, destructive power. In Genesis, we read that God used words to create the world we live in. The Bible says in Proverbs that the power of life and death are in the tongue. That is an amazing statement and one that we should seriously consider. Each time we speak words, we are speaking either life or death to those who hear us and to ourselves. So we need to be cautious about the words we utter. Our mouth gives expression to what we want, think, and feel; therefore, it reveals a great deal about the one who is speaking. We can learn a lot about ourselves just by listening to the things that we say.

Change Your Words, Change Your World

Overall, I enjoyed the book. The message reminded me much of the Wiccan Rule of Three whatever energy a person puts out into the world, be it positive or negative, will be returned to that person three times. I'll probably read this book again. View 1 comment. May 05, Brian Canavan rated it really liked it Recommended to Brian by: Andrea Gardner. Andreas book is a wee gem for anyone wishing to explore the benefits of NLP and, to use her phrase, self leadership. Told through Andrea's own experience with suggestions of how to apply the techniques this is a great introductory read for anyone interested in NLP but reluctant to read the more mundane textbook style books on the subject.

I bought this for Kindle instinctively, thinking it was going to be an essay on language or something of that kind; it was in fact a book on how your words can ACTUALLY alter the world, full of cheap new-age mysticism and as it is often the case inappropriately attempting to found its points on a scientific basis via misinterpretations of quantum mechanics.

I didn't manage to get a long way through it, but I doubt there were many further "revelations" hiding in the remainder of the book and definitely wouldn't recommend to anybody to download it. I downloaded it on my library's Hoopla app.

As I started to be aware of the negative thoughts, it became easier to ignore them and eventually replace them with a positive spin. Aug 09, Melanie Moxon rated it really liked it.

Really enjoyed this book. May 02, Martin Firrell Company rated it liked it. This book has a great title and starts well. I thought the personal story we well written and evocative and I enjoyed it a great deal.

The rest of the book seemed to me composed of many small 'titbits' of new thought that didn't really add up to anything much.

And often there was the exhortation to do this or that but without any guidance on how one might approach those tasks practically. Most disappointing of all is the missed opportunity to write a book about the way words really shape our live This book has a great title and starts well. Most disappointing of all is the missed opportunity to write a book about the way words really shape our lives, how to be aware of the way one is using words, and how by consciously and consistently changing our words, we really can 'write' a new life for ourselves.

If you are looking for that kind of insight it is not in this book. But, I so enjoyed the narrative about Scotland in the early part of the book, it did earn its keep. A very so-so book, regurgitating so much of what's already been said and written, all of which I'd already read and heard, no original material in here at all. Although on a positive note, it serves as a good reminder and reinforcement of everything I know.

Not to be read again though. Most disappointing was the fact that the title "Change your words, change your world" along with the video of the author changing a beggars sign, etc. I was really ho A very so-so book, regurgitating so much of what's already been said and written, all of which I'd already read and heard, no original material in here at all.

I was really hoping for good strong examples of words that should be changed in my life, just like the clever video, but unfortunately it was just the same old babble of a very sad person harsh, I know, but it reflects exactly how disappointing this book really is! Her self effacing humour and humility throughout the book make reading the book and its subject matter so much more enjoyable. Why only 4 stars? Well I'll save t Andrea's book is a wee gem for anyone wishing to explore the benefits of NLP and, to use her phrase, self leadership.

Well I'll save that one for me when I've implemented and succeeded in the changes that Andrea has opened my eyes to. Jun 19, Louise Armstrong rated it it was ok.

The book is not as outstanding as the video, which I find very useful when faced with truculent teenagers as I use it to answer: What's it good for? I do think it's possible that Emoto may be influencing his rice, but I think he is measuring the wrong things, maybe we should look at intention.
