Even churches located in rural areas want to use English as a language of communication during church service and preaching. Sometimes I feel very uncomfortable listening to a pastor from the peri-urban preaching in broken English in an attempt to impress his audience. On the other hand, my local church being located right in the heart of the city of Ndola, I feel we have lost a generation when as a pastor I start a Bemba hymn from the pulpit and I see children of this generation begin to bite their tongues simply because they are struggling to read the Bemba words in the hymn book. Thus far, the Englishman has 'bewitched' both the church and our young generation. As much as I know, only churches established in the heart of cities are meant to be purely English speaking for obvious reasons. Churches outside the town center are tailored to use local languages as a way of effectively communicating to their audience in that particular locality. If English has to be used in preaching then an interpreter must always be used. What matters is effective communication. I have also realised that there are certain church hymns whose meaning and in-depth theological significance can only be appreciated when sung in local languages. It does not hurt, therefore, to have our children learn their local language up to grade four because they will be helped in many areas of culture and religion in their future. However, this issue still raises questions; what happens to schools with Zambian children who have a very strong English background in their families. Actually such children may need English as a language of instruction in learning their local languages. Think about this. Read the original article on Times of Zambia. All rights reserved.

Just enter the hymn number in the designated space and press 'Open', the app is going to open up that hymn for you. This list contains a wide collection of categories of Seventh-day Adventist hymns. These categories provide you the chance to search for your favorite hymns by topics.

Each category represents a different topic of hymns. You have to tap on a category to reveal the hymnal lyrics of the hymns that are included in it. The categories are not aligned in an alphabetical or any kind of order, though. You will have to just choose the category that you like the best. The hymnal lyrics of the hymns that SDA Hymnal provides are listed in the form of verses and choruses. Each verse is presented in a nice font and white color against a black background.

This creates a pleasant reading environment and makes it easier for you to read the lyrics. I was able to read the hymnal lyrics quite easily thanks to the white and black combination that has been used for displaying the lyrics of the hymns. This app also provides the option of sharing the lyrics with family and friends via Bluetooth, Messaging and even Google.

SDA Hymnal also has a Favorites option as well that it provides to its users. In this option, you get to place the hymns that you like in a Favorites section.

This way you can find them much more easily the next time you want to see the hymnal lyrics of those hymns.

Several copies. Only Volume 4 available. This is to be Volume I of a course of catechesis. Book One: Lesa alubula abantu. Book Two: Eklesia ne Nsakramenta two copies. Book Three: Ubumi Bupya kumo na Kristu. A complete set of three volumes, plus one Book 2 on the Church and the Sacrament.

All in Bemba. Those themes and topics were to form the substance of every Sunday instruction. The instructions are gathered in two volumes: seven months in Volume One and five months in Volume Two.

The introduction in Book One is in English to explain the idea behind this series of instructions, but the instructions themselves — mainly the work of Fr Gamache, if I am not mistaken — are all in Bemba. Two complete sets of two volumes each. Bemba, Anonymous, but probably Fr Marois.
